Maria Serena Chiriacò

university of del salento, italy

Maria Serena Chiriacò (1984) achieved her master degree cum laude in Human Biology in 2008 and from 2009 to 2012 she attended her PhD in “Smart Systems and Technologies” course at Università del Salento, Lecce – Italy, with thesis on “Protein EIS biosensors for on-chip diagnostics”. Since 2012 she works as a postdoc researcher at Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) in Lecce and January 2019 she is permanent researcher at CNR Institute of Nanotechnology (CNR-Nanotec). She gained high-level expertise in the field of Lab-On-Chip for point of care diagnostics and microfabrication methods. Her skills include the design, fabrication and applications of biosensors and in particular electrochemical and SAW based-devices. In addition she also worked on the development of microfluidic tools for lab on chip such as active sorting of nano- and micro-objects. M.S.C. is co-author of 20 scientific publications with H-index of 11 and she is PI of a European Project: “SMILE – A SAW-MIP Integrated device for oraL cancer Early detection” funded among ATTRACT-EU consortium (Grant number:777222) and local coordinator for CNR NANOTEC unit of a National PRIN 2017 project: “Prostate cancer: disentangling the relationships with tumor microenvironment to better model and target tumor progression” (Prot. 20174PLLYN).
